Jimena Navarrete, 22, of Mexico was crowned Miss Universe 2010.
“No puedo pensar nada,” the beaming brunette said in Spanish, basically meaning that her mind was a blank at the moment.
Jimena Navarrete Rosete was born February 22, 1988 in Guadalajara, Jalisco. She is a Mexican model, who was crowned Nuestra Belleza Jalisco in Guadalajara, Jalisco on July 16, 2009 and Nuestra Belleza México on September 20, 2009 inMérida, Yucatán.
First runner-up was Jamaica’s Yendi Phillipps, 24, from Jamaica, followed by Australia’s, Jesinta Campbel as second runner-up. Then Anna Poslavska from the Ukraine as third runner-up and lastly Venus Raj from the Philippines.
Australia’s Jesinta Campbell took the title of Miss Congeniality, while Thailand’s Fonthip Watcharatrakul was named Miss Photogenic and won for Favorite National Costume, all honors bestowed by online voters.
Bookmakers favorite, Miss Ireland Rozanna Purcell made it in to the Top 10. Other favorites were: Miss Philippines Venus Raj (4th Runner-up), Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete (Crowned Miss Universe), and Miss USA Rima Fakih (didn’t advance to the top 15).
The Miss Universe 2010 pageant was aired live from Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on NBC, hosted by Poison front man Bret Michaels and NBC correspondent Natalie Morales.
The international beauty contest, which is co-owned by Donald Trump and NBC, was judged by celebrities including Olympic gold-medal-winning ice skater Evan Lysacek, illusionist Criss Angel, drummer Sheila E., actors Jane Seymour and Chazz Palminteri and MSNBC’s Tamron Hall.
